Multiwave Locked System Laser Therapy (MLS laser therapy) is the most advanced laser therapy system available. This treatment option offers our patients an alternative to injections and other invasive treatments. Laser therapy is a painless, drugless, noninvasive way to help you recover from painful and costly injuries and conditions. If you are experiencing chronic pain, Dr. Danieley of Kinetic Spine & Sports in Weddington has the experience, knowledge, and resources to provide the relief you deserve.
Laser therapy is one of the most convenient and effective methods of treatment for a wide variety of issues. We know that the concept of light energy reducing pain and inflammation seems questionable, but using the FDA-approved laser treatment, laser therapy is a great option. In fact, laser therapy is used in a wide range of fields including dentistry, sports medicine, and even veterinary medicine. Lasers can help accelerate healing, relax muscles, and even stimulate nerve regeneration.
What is Laser Therapy?
Laser therapy does a few different things and can be used in different ways. Generally, laser therapy aims to reduce inflammation, muscle fatigue, and pain. This painless treatment repairs the muscles, ligaments, and tendons and can treat many conditions that come with pain and inflammation. MLS laser drastically improves healing time for damaged tissue by ramping up your cellular energy production.
How Does Laser Therapy Work?
There are 2 classes of lasers available for therapy. Class III & Class IV. The MLS laser offers the best of both worlds.
Class 3 Lasers offer a less powerful laser that focuses on reducing inflammation and swelling. The decrease in inflammation allows for Dr. Dan to move the joint around more easily using manual therapy.
Class 4 Lasers offer a more powerful laser that reaches deeper into the muscle tissues and nerves for pain relief.
MLS laser treatment combines the benefits of both class III & IV lasers. The treatment provides topical heating to elevate the temperature of the tissues to temporarily relieve muscle pain, joint pain, arthritis pain, muscle spasms, and other conditions by increasing local blood circulation to the area. When the body absorbs these wavelengths, it promotes cellular activity, allowing the body to produce enzymes, stimulate mitochondria, increase vasodilation, and even elevate collagen levels to prevent scar tissues.
What to expect?
An average MLS therapy session takes about 10-15 minutes depending on the area and reason for treatment. First, you will sit or lay on a treatment table to allow the lasers to make contact with the problem area. Dr. Dan will position the laser in the best position and begin the laser. We’ll make sure you are comfortable throughout the entire procedure and keep in mind the treatment is painless.
The laser will make its way across the area multiple times before the treatment is complete. Laser treatment is a cumulative therapy which means each treatment builds off the previous treatment. Most patients will feel relief after their 2nd-3rd visit and a treatment plan usually covers 6-12 sessions. Not completing all sessions in the treatment plan means not benefiting fully from the natural healing process that MLS laser therapy promotes and pain is likely to come back.
